Entries for the fourth annual Kansas State University College of Architecture, Planning, and Design student photography competition will be exhibited in the Chang Gallery of Seaton Hall through April 9, 2010.

The Answers Inc. and Thomas A. Tyler CAPD Student Architectural and Environmental Photography Competition is sponsored by K-State alumnus Thomas A. Tyler, B Arch 1974, and his firm, Answers Inc., of St. Louis, MO. Prizes valued at $150 for First Place, $100 for Second Place, $75 for Third Place and $50 for Honorable Mention were awarded.

The competition was open to all students enrolled in the College of Architecture, Planning, and Design, including those in the articulated program at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. The competition jury was composed of Mr. Tom Leopold, free-lance photographer and artist, Manhattan, KS; Mr. Jim Rigg, Art and Design Director, K-State Educational Communications Center; and Mr. James Tyler, free-lance photographer and artist, Concordia, KS.

Of the 70 entries in the blind competition, 16 were selected for special recognition.

Black and White:  First Place - Darcy McDonough, second-year interior architecture and product design, Lee’s Summit, MO; Second Place - Nicholas Whitney, fifth-year architecture, Peabody, KS; Third Place (two given) - Eric Polt, second-year regional and community planning, St. Louis, MO; Matt Shepard, fifth-year architecture, Plattsburg, MO.

Creative and Other Subject Matter:  First Place (two given) - Kirk Chonis, third-year architecture, Parkville, MO; Harrison Staab, fifth-year architecture, Papillion, NE.

Exterior Architecture:  First Place - Matt Shepard; Second Place - Jordan Lohfink, fifth-year architecture, Holcomb, KS; Third Place - Andrea Nelson, fifth-year interior architecture and product design, Smithville, MO; Honorable Mention - Ryan Collier, fifth-year architecture, Wichita, KS.

Interiors and Architectural Details:  First Place - Darcy McDonough, Lee’s Summit, MO; Second Place - Lindsay Whitehead, fifth-year architecture, Katy, TX; Third Place - Lindsay Whitehead.

Landscape:  First Place - Jane Winslow, post-baccalaureate landscape architecture, Manhattan, KS; Second Place - Rachel Lehr, fourth-year architecture, Harlan, IA; Third Place - Ashley Johnson, post-baccalaureate landscape architecture, Lawrence, KS.

The Chang Gallery is open without charge to the public weekdays from 8:00 a.m. through 5:00 p.m.
